UPDATE: Dreams Come True is still in need of volunteers for the Dream Day 2016 event. Their critical need shifts are 12:00 pm-4:pm and from 3:00 pm-6:00 pm (breakdown and event clean-up). If you are interested please register at http://bit.ly/DreamDay16VOL. You must register by 8 pm June 10, 2016. Please print out the volunteer application and bring a hard copy with you.
Parking and Check-In:
We have been allowed to once again use the parking garage behind Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites, located at 1201 Kings Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Please note, you will only be able to access Kings Avenue from Prudential Drive or Nira Street, because Kings Avenue in front of PRI will be closed starting at 7am. Once you park, you will have just a .30 mile walk to the PRI event. Below and attached is a map highlighting the walk from the parking garage to PRI Productions. Once you arrive at PRI Productions, please look for the Volunteer tent. This area is marked on the map with a big blue “X.” The volunteer tent will be located near the end of the PRI lot, close to the large semi-trailer that will be blocking Kings Avenue. Once again, please allow yourself plenty of time to park and walk to PRI before your arrival time.
Clothing:
Saturday, even in the morning, will be HOT! You are welcome to wear shorts or pants. We recommend light colors and materials, nothing to heavy. The majority of the event and part of your volunteer shift will take place outside. We are taking every precaution to keep all volunteers hydrated and comfortable during their shifts. Your volunteer duties will also require you to be on your feet the majority of the time….we ask that you please wear flat shoes (closed-toe shoes are highly recommended) for both your comfort and safety. Each volunteer will be provided a volunteer t-shirt upon check-in at the event. This shirt is different than from previous years and other DCT volunteer events. You will be able to change into the 2016 Dream Day shirt when you arrive. If you have not already provided your shirt size when you signed up (or you are unsure if you did), please feel free to email me your size by Friday at 12 noon, to help with expediting the volunteer check-in.
Event Contact:
Andrea Siracusa from Dreams Come True will be your event contact on Saturday. When you arrive at PRI, please head to the check-in tent as instructed and you will be assigned your official volunteer role and a volunteer liaison. If you need to reach her before Saturday (especially to cancel or modify your participation), please contact her by the following means:
