Volunteers are needed for the International Coastal Cleanup Saturday, September 19, 2015! This year the Jacksonville Jaycees, along with the Rising Tides and UNF Environmental Center, will revisit one of our first cleanup sites at Cherokee Street and Edison Avenue. We hear there are some shopping carts with our name on them.... ;-) This regional effort is part of the 30th Annual International Coastal Cleanup coordinated by the Ocean Conservancy and supported locally by Keep Jacksonville Beautiful and the St. Johns Riverkeeper. Safety tips: * Wear sturdy, closed toe, footwear. *Wear sun protection and bring water. *Be alert for slippery wet surfaces. *Do not climb on rocks or get into water. *Avoid overexertion and drink plenty of fluids. *Wear safety vests or bright colors along roadsides. *Do not handle or remove hazardous items or substances. *Wear gloves. *Call 911 for emergencies.
